Saudi Arabia drill UAE 81-67
KUWAIT CITY, Nov 25: Bahrain National Basketball Team have been nominated as one of the favorites to win the 16th GCC Championship after they defeated their opponents from Qatar by 69-62 during the game held at Kuwait Sporting Club. Saudi Arabia also beat the UAE by 81-67 in another game.
The Reds are now on top of the leader-board with four points in two games, followed by Saudi Arabia with three points, while Kuwait and UAE share two points each, and Qatar are in the bottom position with one point.
The championship is being played in the form of tournament whereby all teams will play against one another. After this, the team that tops the table will play against the team in the fourth position, and the teams in second and third positions will meet. Winners in those two games will meet in the final to produce the champions.
In the first game, Bahrain succeeded in stopping the current champions in the first quarter of the game which ended 22-6. Al-Enabi staged a comeback in the third quarter with 42-51, and Bahrain upturned the game in the fourth round to end the game with 69-62.
President of Qatar’s Basketball association Ahmad Al-Muftah said the team committed some mistakes which enabled the Bahrainis to win the game. He said the Qataris would learn from this lesson and try to give all it could during the upcoming clash.
