BAGHDAD, Dec 26, (KUNA): The Iraqi people are pinning high hopes on the international donors’ conference to be hosted by the State of Kuwait early next year, Saleem al- Jubouri, Speaker of Iraq’s Parliament, said on Monday.

Al-Jubouri made the statement while receiving Kuwait’s Ambassador to Iraq Salem Al- Zamanan, said a statement by al-Jubouri’s office.

The Speaker expressed his appreciation of Kuwait’s effective and distinguished support to displaced Iraqis, the statement noted. Both international and Arab support has become essential for the reconstruction of the Iraqi areas liberated from the so-called Islamic State in order to restore life and allow quick return to the displaced people to their homes, he said.

The displaced families are facing catastrophic conditions at the camps, he stated. For his part, Al-Zamanan reiterated Kuwait backing to Iraq and its keenness on providing all kinds of aid on all levels to the Iraqis. According to the statement, the two sides discussed the reconstruction of the liberated areas and preparations for holding the conference slated for next year. The event is expected to gather a large number of international and regional countries and organizations.
