Chairman of the Asian Wheelchair Basketball Federation (AWBF) Saad Al-Azmaa on Sunday, thanked Minister of Information and Minister of State for Youth Affairs Sheikh Salman Sabah Salem Al-Humoud Al-Sabah for his persistent support of disabled persons’ sports.

Al-Azmaa made the comments in statements to journalists after meeting with Sheikh Salman, Secretary General of the International Wheelchair Basketball Federation (IWBF) Maureen Orchard and Chairman of Kuwait Sports Club for the Disabled (KDSC) Shafi Al-Hajri.

Sheikh Salman’s support was very instrumental to the development of disabled sports, Al-Azmaa said.

Kuwait has always supported its youth and endorsed its athletes, helping them hone their skills, Al-Azmaa quoted Sheikh Salman as saying.

IWBF officials, in meetings held in the country Sunday, reviewed strategies to further develop the sport in the region, Al-Azmaa noted.

New guidelines have been introduced during the meetings to ensure better performance and smoother service amongst IWBF members, Al-Azmaa added.

Underscoring the importance of such meetings, the Chairman of the Asian Wheelchair Basketball Federation called them a roadmap for development. (KUNA)
