Asian housemaid attempts suicide

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 24: An Asian housemaid attempted to commit suicide by consuming pesticide inside her Kuwaiti sponsor’s house in Jaber Al- Ahmad area. According to security sources, when the Operations Room of Ministry of Interior received information from a Kuwaiti woman that her housemaid consumed pesticide and fell unconscious on the ground, securitymen and paramedics rushed to the location and referred the housemaid to the nearest hospital where she was admitted in the Intensive Care Unit in critical condition.

When securitymen questioned the Kuwaiti sponsor, she said she is not aware of any problems that her housemaid has been suffering from, affirming that the latter has been working efficiently and there are no problems between them.

Beggars held
Police have arrested three Syrian women for begging for alms in front of commercial and bank complexes, reports Al-Rai daily. The daily added, the ‘beggars’ were seized by a police patrol. Police have seized from them KD 200 and GCC currency in various denominations. The daily added, the women hold valid residence permit and their sponsors are expected to be summoned to give an explanation.
