Arrests in bogus maids office – Firms in human peddling

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 11: Officers from the Residency Affairs Department raided a bogus domestic recruitment office and apprehended 11 men with 7 women who had absconded from their sponsors. The office is said to have cheated several Kuwaitis and expatriates by supplying them manpower and issuing receipts without any legal or official document.

Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry stated the Residency Affairs Sector received a tip-off about the activities of a gang of human traffickers operating under a bogus domestic bureau that swindles citizens and expatriates. Investigation revealed the gang which included individuals from different nationalities was involved in various civil and criminal offenses.

All suspects were referred to concerned authorities. Meanwhile, security operatives discovered 11 companies with commercial licenses that registered 44 individuals in their names, although they’re without any activity. A security source said Ministry of Social Affairs and the Ministry of Commerce have since been notified to take necessary action against the companies in question.
