KUWAIT CITY, April 13: The Arab Woman Awards board of judges were announced today ahead of the winners’ presentation ceremony taking place at a royal residence on Sunday 17th April. Launched in 2009, the Arab Woman Awards was established by ITP with the aim of providing a culturally accepted platform to raise awareness on the significant achievements of Arab women in areas including business, finance, legal, media and the humanitarian field. The awards run annually in the UAE, KSA, Qatar and Kuwait and to-date over 250 women have been presented with the prestigious trophies.

Judging for the Kuwait awards commenced 3 months ago with the panel nominating and analysing potential candidates following a strict criteria per award as supplied by ITP. This year there will be twenty-two winners presented as selected by the board of judges:-

* Honorary Chairperson Sheikh Mubarak Fahad Al-Salem Al-Sabah; Undersecretary of Department of Protocol Affairs at the Amiri Diwan;

* Arab Woman Awards Kuwait co-founder and Executive Director of Hayatt, Dr Labiba Temmim

* Modern kaftan designer and previous award winner, Sheikha Souad Jaber Al Sabah.

* Editor in Chief of Hello! Arabia, Gina Tadros.

Arab Woman Awards Founder and Executive Director of ITP Consumer Sue Holt said, “We are very proud of the quality of the Judging Board for the 2016 Kuwait awards. The strength of the bench ensures that the highest calibre of winners are selected. This year, in particular, we were encouraged to see a large number of women in the non-traditional female sectors being nominated for their achievements. I know the benchmark is high so we look forward to seeing next week the final list of winners that they have chosen.”

The private winners’ ceremony will be attended by the board of judges, this year’s winners and their families plus VIP guests. This year’s event is supported by Tory Burch, Gulf Bank of Kuwait, The Flower Box and the Sheraton Kuwait. A commemorative publication is created which highlights each of the winners’ stories and is distributed to all guests after the event.
