Another line … another delay – COVID again to blame

KUWAIT CITY, Nov 1: An informed source at the ‘Kuwait Customs’ said the queueing of several vehicles opposite the Nuwaiseeb border crossing is not because of lack of personnel or for any other reason, but due to measures adopted by the Kuwaiti health authorities to prevent the spread of the corona pandemic and to ensure all travelers arriving from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia carry the PCR certificate, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a customs source.

The same source said checking and examination requires some time, adding that the congestion is not periodic, but rather often occurs during holidays.

However, the source said efforts are being made to reduce crowding by increasing the number of personnel manning the border point, particularly in the arrival lounge. The customs source categorically denied that the customs delays the work, pointing out that the current situation is completely different from what it was before the COVID-19 pandemic
