Amiri envoy First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al- Sabah delivers a letter to President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan.
KUWAIT CITY, Aug 8, (KUNA): During talks with Kuwait’s Deputy Foreign Minister Khaled Al-Jarallah on Monday, a US official and retired US general reiterated support of Kuwait’s efforts to resolve the ongoing feud between Qatar and four other Arab countries. Both Deputy Assistant State Secretary for Arab Gulf Affairs Tim Lenderking and retired US Marine Corps general and ex-CENTCOM Commander-in-Chief Anthony Zinni said the US would double its efforts in pursuit of the joint goal, read a Kuwaiti official statement.The meeting, which was also attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for Al-Jarallah’s office Ayham Al-Omar and US Ambassador Lawrence Silverman, also discussed bilateral relations along with regional and international developments. Meanwhile, His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah’s envoy, First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, accompanied by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah, delivered Tuesday a letter from His Highness the Amir to Bahraini King Hamad bin Isa Al-Khalifa. The letter has a bearing on the latest regional and international developments and several issues of mutual interest.The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister’s Office Ambassador Dr Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Bahrain Sheikh Azzam Mubarak Al-Sabah. Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah and Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah also delivered Tuesday a letter to President of the UAE Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al-Nahyan on the recent regional and international developments.The letter, by His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al- Sabah, was handed over to UAE Vice President, Prime Minister, and Dubai Ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum. The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister’s Office Ambassador Dr Sheikh Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al-Sabah and Kuwaiti Ambassador to Oman Fahad Al-Mutairi. In Egypt, envoy of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al- Jaber Al-Sabah, First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah delivered a written letter from His Highness the Amir to Egyptian President Abdelfatah el-Sisi. Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled was accompanied by Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al-Sabah.This came during a meeting between el-Sisi and the two Kuwaiti ministers. The letter included the latest developments on both regional and international arenas as well as issues of common concern. The meeting was attended by Assistant Foreign Minister for the First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister’s office affairs Ambassador Sheikh Dr Ahmad Nasser Al-Mohammad Al- Sabah. Egyptian President Abdelfatah el-Sisi extolled His Highness the Amir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah for his efforts to consolidate the inter-Arab unity and solidarity. President el-Sisi received His Highness the Amir’s envoy — the First Deputy Premier and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, to discuss the latest developments of the Qatar crisis in the light of Kuwait’s mediation to mend the rift in the Arab ranks.The meeting gathered Kuwait’s Minister of State for Cabinet Affairs and Acting Minister of Information Sheikh Mohammad Abdullah Al-Mubarak Al- Sabah, according to a statement by the Egyptian Presidential Spokesman Alaa Youssef. President el-Sisi reaffirmed his support to the Kuwaiti mediation efforts and stressed the need for Qatar to address the concerns of Egypt and three other Gulf states. The two sides agreed to continue consultations and coordination closely in the coming stage based on the commendable stances of His Highness the Amir, the statement said. At the onset of the meeting Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, accompanied by Sheikh Mohammad Al-Abdullah delivered a letter to President el-Sisi from His Highness the Amir on the latest developments in the region.
