AMIRI DECREE ACCEPTS CABINET RESIGNATION

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 2: An Amiri decree was issued on Sunday, calling on the newlyelected National Assembly to hold the first regular session of the 17th legislative term on October 11. The Amiri decree stipulated that it was issued in accordance with the Constitution, Decree No. 147/2022 that called on voters to elect members of the National Assembly and deceleration results of the general elections in all electoral districts held on September 29, and after a presentation by the prime minister and approval of the Cabinet. It has also stipulated that the National Assembly is called upon to hold the first regular session of the 17th legislative term in the morning of Tuesday, October 11.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishaal Al- Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah receives the Cabinet resignation letter from His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmed Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Accordingly, the prime minister will notify the National Assembly about this decree that will be published by the official gazette. An Amiri decree was issued earlier accepting the resignation of His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf ‘s government and instructed the Cabinet to act as a caretaker government until a new government was formed.

His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah received Sunday His Highness the Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf, who tendered the Cabinet’s resignation. His Highness the Crown Prince also received Deputy Prime Minister, Defense Minister and Acting Interior Minister Sheikh Talal Khaled Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah. The Constitutional Court has confirmed receiving the first petition on the constitutionality of the recently-concluded parliamentary elections. The plaintiff called for the cancellation of the election, claiming that Amiri Decrees Five and Six are unconstitutional.
