KUWAIT CITY, Dec 18: Assistant Undersecretary for Correctional Facilities and Sentences Execution at Ministry of Interior Major General Faraj Al-Zoubi announced that this year’s Amiri Amnesty will include 600 to 700 Kuwaiti and expatriate prisoners convicted in various cases except for cases related to the State Security and terrorism.

In his speech during the opening ceremony of the 8th exhibition titled “Making of our hands” which was organized at the Avenues Mall under the patronage of Undersecretary of Interior Ministry Lieutenant General Essam Al-Naham, he said the amnesty will vary in proportion with either the sentences being reduced by half or three-quarter of the total prison time, or immediate release.

The exhibition, which is due to end this Saturday, witnessed a huge public turnout. During the exhibition, Major General Al-Zoubi explained the aim of the exhibition, which is to display the works of the prisoners and their supervisors, and allow the works to be sold at symbolic prices.

He indicated that they encourage prisoners with distinguished professions and hobbies to produce these works in order to highlight the reform role they undergo in their respective correctional facilities. Major General Al-Zoubi affirmed that the correctional facilities seek to reform the prisoner and facilitate their integration with the society, revealed that the expatriate prisoners who are released are immediately deported to their home countries
