Mountaineers raise flag
A Kuwaiti mountaineering team raised the national fl ag along with photos of the Kuwaiti leadership atop a Himalayan mountain summit Tuesday, to mark the country’s national day celebrations. In a statement to KUNA, team leader Mahmoud Qabazard described scaling the mountain, which towers at 6,654 meters, as a debilitating experience.

The endeavor, which lasted for two weeks was an attempt to give Kuwait the recognition it deserves, he noted. Moreover, Qabazard underscored the fact that such an effort requires concerted teamwork as the adventurous task was rife with challenges.

The frigid weather, with a temperature of 40 degrees below zero, made the challenge all the more difficult, Qabazard added. The Kuwaiti youth are capable of overcoming any challenges, no matter how insurmountable they may be, he said. (KUNA)
