Qatar’s Election Commission announced that 30 male candidates have won all the 30 contested seats in the country’s first Shura Council election. In a press conference late Saturday, the commission chief Majed Al-Khalifa described the turnout as high, estimating it at 63.5 percent. Earlier, voters flocked to polling stations to cast their ballots amid strict health measures due to the coronavirus pandemic.
