Al-Shabab Club crowned Karate champions – Al-Awd 1st in ‘Kata’

Hawally Governor Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad with the victorious team from Al-Shabab Karate Club.

KUWAIT CITY, April 25: The team from Al-Shabab Karate Club have been crowned champions of the 24th His Highness the Crown Prince Karate Championship, which concluded on Monday at Kuwait Karate Federation Hall in Al-Salmiya Club.

Representing His Highness the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah was the Hawally Governor ret Lieutenant General Sheikh Ahmad Nawaf Al-Ahmad.

The governor, after the championship ended, expressed his honor and joy in representing His Highness the Crown Prince, affirming the keen interest of His Highness the Crown Prince in supporting all types of sports.

Sheikh Ahmad also praised the organizing committee of the Kuwait Karate Federation for the effort they exerted in organizing the championship, wishing the federation further success in its future endeavors.

Meanwhile, the Deputy Director General of Public Authority for Sports Dr Hamoud Al-Fuleiteh said the success of the championship reflects on the performance of the karate players of sports clubs, affirming the keenness of the authority to support players of various sports despite the current international ban on Kuwaiti sport.

Regarding the scores, Al-Shabab Karate Club won the champions title after earning 41 points, followed by Salmiya Club in second place with 29 points.

Al-Shabab Club also received the overall success cup with 16.019 points, followed by Yarmouk Club in second place with 11.957 points, and Salmiya Club in third place with 11.503 points.

In the matches played on the final day of the championship, Suleiman Al-Awd from Qadsiya Sports Club came first in the individual “Kata” category, followed by Khaled Al-Qomani from Khaitan Sports Club in second place. In the group “Kata” category, Salmiya Sports Club came first, followed by Al-Shabab Club in second place and Yarmouk Club in third place.
