Al-Otaibi lauds Kuwait National Shooting Team on its achievements

Head of Kuwait Shooting Club Duaij Al-Otaibi says the achievement of Kuwait National Shooting Team in the Arab Shooting Tournament, which was recently held in Sharm Al-Sheikh, Egypt, is an addition to the series of achievements realized by Kuwait shooting sport.

In a press statement issued after welcoming the Kuwaiti delegation on Saturday, Al-Otaibi said, “What distinguishes Kuwait’s achievement in this tournament is that it included both the rifle and gun categories, which fulfilled the excellence of Kuwait shooting.”

He praised the Kuwaiti shooters for winning four medals — 3 silver and 1 bronze, revealing that the tournament witnessed the participation of 300 shooters from 12 countries.

Shooter Mariam Al-Razouqi expressed pride over winning two silver medals along with Fatima Abdulmalik and Zahra Al-Safar in the 10m rifle competition for individual and team categories.

She indicated that the competition was very strong especially between the Egyptian and Kuwaiti shooters.

Al-Razouqi affirmed that the high level of Arab shooters reveal their ability to participate in the World Shooting Cup, adding that she hopes to be qualified for the Olympics, which will be held after two years in Japan.

Meanwhile, shooter Ali Al-Mutairi expressed his happiness over winning a bronze medal along with Hamad Al-Nashman and Sa’ad Al-Ajmi in the 10m gun competition for team category after facing strong competition from the teams of Saudi Arabia and Egypt which took first and second places respectively.

It is worth mentioning that the tournament kicked off on Wednesday, March 14 with the participation of Saudi Arabia, Emirates, Bahrain, Iraq, Algeria, Tunisia, Lebanon, Syria, Jordan, Oman and the host country Egypt. (KUNA)
