Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor welcomed His Excellency Dr Thani Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Cabinet Member and Minister of Climate Change and Environment for the United Arab Emirates at the Al Habtoor Group headquarters on July 4, 2016. It marked the first meeting between the Al Habtoor Group Chairman and Dr Al Zeyoudi, who was formally appointed to his role in February 2016.

The Minister briefed the Chairman on the latest developments of nation’s programme to encourage collaboration between the public and private sectors to address sustainability for future generations. He said that the focus now is to build supplies of staple crops, including wheat and rice to secure a stable food supply for the nation’s population.

Al Habtoor commended the notable achievements of the UAE government and said he is pleased to see the nation expanding its food production capacity. “Innovation in agriculture will pave the way for prosperity and suitability for generations. As a nation, we have proven to innovate ways how to cope with surviving in the desert, a harsh and arid environment. The UAE is a role model not only for our region but also globally.

Food sustainability is yet another a milestone as we honour the legacy and vision of UAE’s founder father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan.”
