‘Airport passenger tally to hit 0.5mln’

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 17: Air Transport Monitor for Aviation Operations in the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) Raed Al-Taher expects the number of passengers at Kuwait International Airport to reach 500,000 from Feb 20-29, reports Al-Qabas daily.

Al-Taher told the daily that, so far, a total of 3,681 flights with 258,000 passengers on board will depart from the country during the abovementioned period; while the arrivals are about 241,000 passengers on board 1,840 flights.

He disclosed the top destinations are Dubai with 67,000 passengers (14 percent), Doha with 50,000 (10 percent) and Cairo with 36,000 (seven percent). He went on to say the fourth destination is Jeddah with 26,439 passengers (five percent), followed by Bahrain, Istanbul, Riyadh, Oman and London.

He added Terminal One will cater to 49 percent of these passengers (departures and arrivals), 32 percent for Terminal Four, 15 percent for Terminal Five, and four percent for Terminal Three
