Accountant flees with KD 158,000

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 16: The Finance Department of the Ministry of Education and the Criminal Evidences Department for Investigations are pursuing legal action against an accountant working in the Finance Department at the Ministry of Education who is said to have left the country after embezzling KD 158,000, reports Al-Anba daily quoting education sources. The sources said several employees of the ministry’s finance department were summoned for interrogations as a preliminary measure. Meanwhile, the daily added, attempts have been exerted by the concerned authorities to hand over the case to Interpol to extradite the suspect to Kuwait. According to reliable sources the suspect has transferred the money into the account of his wife.

Threatening posture: Three people who intruded the wildlife reserve in northern part of the country for bird hunting fled after threatening to kill some securitymen. Security sources indicated officers manning the wildlife reserve were surprised to see two black and white jeeps entering the site, and one of the suspects brought out a weapon and threatened to kill the officers after they were asked to show their civil IDs. The suspects fled the scene after the incident. The officers provided the description of the two vehicles to concerned security authorities for their arrest, and necessary legal measures will be taken against them.

Barbers selling drugs: Personnel from the General Department for Drugs Control have arrested two men working for a barber shop in Farwaniya. According to security sources the department acting on a tip-off put a Pakistani under surveillance and caught him red-handed selling drugs in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh and seized from him 250 grams of hashish. During interrogation he admitted to the charge and gave the name of his accomplice, a Turk working at a barber shop in Farwaniya.
