KUWAIT CITY, June 8: The American Business Council Kuwait (ABCK) held elections for the Board of Directions at the monthly meeting that was held at the Embassy of the United States.
Dr Juliet Dinkha, Chair of ABCK, welcomed the guests to the Election Night and recapped for the guests how busy and active the ABCK has been the past year and the drive to further grow ABCK in the community. Dr. Dinkha introduced Oswaldo Rueda, Nominating Chair and Vice Chair of ABCK, who introduced the candidates.
Each candidate had 3 minutes to tell the members about what they would bring to the board of ABCK. All of the candidates gave very fervent speeches and it made the choice for the members very tough. It was a very close election and the final selections for the board of directors are: Hasan AlMatrouk of Jadeite Group, Jared Willis of Berkeley Research Group, Najmah Brown of Al-Adwani Law Firm and Pete Swift of KGL. Then the current board of directors voted on the corporate members of the board of directors and selected AIG, Boeing, Fluor, Honeywell, and Raytheon for the board for 2017-2019.
The Officers of the Board of Directors for 2017 – 2018 were selected by the new board and they are: Dr Juliet Dinkha, Chair; Oswaldo Rueda, Vice Chair; Alok Chugh, Treasurer; Hasan AlMatrouk, Secretary. Dr Dinkha thanked the board of 2016-2017 for all of their work and commitment in achieving the goals of the ABCK.
It was also a very special night because ABCK said good-bye to Joey Hood, Charge d’Affaires at the US. Embassy in Kuwait. Joey has been a very strong supporter of ABCK during his three years in Kuwait.
Joey thanked ABCK for their role that they play in the community to help grow American businesses in Kuwait and the many events and activities that they do to support the business community.
