8th GCC College Games coming to an end

KUWAIT CITY, April 9: The eighth edition of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Universities and Higher Education Institutions Games is coming to an end after achieving its objectives and affirming that Kuwait is able to organize such tournaments and competitions with competency.

In recent matches, Public Authority for Applied Education and Training (PAAET) won titles in volleyball and swimming, and appeared on the top three list of winners of majority of the competitions.

Various representatives of the GCC universities and higher education institutions attended the recent tennis match held at Yarmouk’s tennis court. The scene received a lot of praises, as it symbolized the cooperation and unity of the GCC countries in propagating sports and raising its standards among its sports cadre, let alone contributing to the success of the entire event.

The group tennis title was won by Imam Muhammad bin Saud University of Saudi Arabia, followed by PAAET in second place, while the third place went to King Abdulaziz University.

In the individual category, Abdulrahman Al-Juhani from King Abdulaziz University came first, Ahmad Nawaf from Qatar University came second, and Talal Saad and Hadi Mansour from PAAET tied in the third place.

In swimming, PAAET won the title in group competition, followed by King Abdulaziz University in second place and Imam Muhammad bin Saud University in third.

The games kicked off one week ago with the participation of around 730 athletes and administrators representing 16 educational institutions. The games included football, volleyball, athletics, swimming, tennis, table tennis, cross-country running, and futsal.
