KUWAIT CITY, Oct 13: Head of Kuwait Road Safety Association Dr Badar Al- Matar affirmed that more than 83 percent of Kuwait roads are not within the safety scope, and the recent collapse of a road along 6th Ring Road suggests failure of the companies executing the road projects in Kuwait, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press statement, Dr Al-Matar stated that Kuwait Road Safety Society has repeatedly warned about the consequences of substandard construction or repairing of roads, and failure to abide by standard materials used for road construction.

He indicated that repetition of such incidents would lead to huge losses against the motorists and public funds, adding the flaws persist to threaten the safety of the motorists.

He stressed the importance of finding practical and permanent solutions by ensuring that materials used in the road construction or repair are of high quality and pass the technical merits, while allowing the road to dry properly. Most importantly, proper oversight on the materials and contractors is needed.
