71 illegal expats held in PAM raid, to be deported

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 14: The Committee comprising members from Social Affairs, Interior and the Public Authority for Manpower (PAM) organized a security check at the Shaddadiya University recently and arrested 71 violators of the residence and labor laws who were working on the university site, reports Al- Seyassah daily.

Some of these employees are believed to be house drivers, shepherds and even some of them were found to be working for others, rather than their sponsors. The daily added, the inspectors in plainclothes were seen manning the entry and exit gates.

Fahd Al Kandari Director of the committee said 11 violators were holding No 20 (domestic work permit) while the rest were on Article 18, but they were arrested for working for others rather than their sponsors. The daily added, some of them were working on daily wage basis and some of their employers have not won tenders from the university. Al Kandari said all violators will be deported and the employer will be placed under a certain code in cooperation with the Residence Affairs Department.
