7-time violator – Kuwaiti arrested

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: The Ahmadi police have arrested a Kuwaiti for committing seven serious traffic violations at one time, reports Al-Anba daily. The Kuwaiti driving an expensive car was reportedly driving against the flow of traffic when he approached a police checkpoint in Nuwaiseeb. The 24-year-old then stepped on the gas pedal and drove again in the opposite direction exceeding the speed limit, putting the lives of other road users in danger, ignored orders by police to stop, and even mounted the pavement in a vain attempt to evade arrest. He was also not holding a driving licence. The car has been impounded and the motorist has been referred to the authorities.

Liquor with motorist: An unidentified individual was arrested in Hadiy area in possession of a bottle of liquor, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, securitymen were patrolling Hadiya area when they noticed a man driving recklessly. When they ordered him to pull over, he ignored them and sped away. Securitymen chased him and eventually forced him to stop. When they demanded for his civil ID, he revealed that the has no official identification documents. They checked his vehicle and found a bottle of liquor. The suspect was arrested and referred with the liquor bottle to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action. Meanwhile, two Kuwait citizens, who are wanted by the Civil Sentences Execution Department, were arrested and referred to the department. In addition, Fahaheel securitymen arrested a Syrian expatriate who is wanted by law and violated the residency law. They also issued 12 traffic citations.

Brothers in crime: Police have arrested three brothers for assaulting and preventing police from carrying out their duty, reports Al-Rai daily. A security source said the Jahra patrolmen ordered a motorist to pull over and the latter refused, stepped on the gas pedal, pulled over in front of a house and took shelter inside. When police ordered the motorist to surrender, the brothers rushed out of the house and began attacking the men in uniform. A back up force which was sent to the area fired in the area and controlled the situation. The brothers have been arrested and referred to the Public Prosecution. In the meantime the two patrolmen who had chased the motorist have submitted a medical report showing injuries on their bodies. Police are still looking for the motorist who is still at large.
