20,000 driving licenses distributed

KUWAIT CITY, June 30: The General Traffic Department (GTD) has announced the renewal of 60,000 car registration documents as the GTD began limited work last week, in addition to the delivery of 20,000 driving licences to citizens and residents (those who had renewed their licences online) at the Al Nasr Club to reduce pressure on traffic departments before the second stage kicks off today (June 30) based on a decision of Council of Ministers, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

A security source told the daily, the renewal of the vehicle’s registration is optional and not compulsory at the present time, in addition to that every person, whose car registration has expired as of March 12, is exempt from paying fines.

However, if the car registration had expired before March 12, the owner of the car with his vehicle can visit any of the car technical inspections centers in any governorate to complete the formalities. The GTD also said the car registration is renewed without being technically examined.
