6,000 e-passports issued daily

KUWAIT CITY, July 12: The issuance of e-passports is proceeding at a steady pace, reports Al-Anba daily quoting a security source. The source told the daily that Director General of the Citizenship and Passport Affairs General Department in the Interior Ministry Brigadier Yousif Al- Sinen and his deputy Colonel Khalid Al-Bahwa are closely monitoring procedures to ensure issuance of the largest number of e-passports in August.

The source called on citizens to check if there are cases filed against them that may hinder the issuance of e-passports. Meanwhile, a source revealed the passport issuance centers in the six governorates have completed 17,000 transactions including receiving applications and handing over passports, adding that more than 6,000 e-passports are issued daily.
