KUWAIT CITY, Nov 26: Results of a poll on violence conducted by Kuwait Human Rights Society showed that 54 percent of the respondents of various nationalities were subjected to violence while 46 percent said no, reports Al-Rai daily.
The respondents include 243 females and 56 males whose ages range from 17- 57 years old. Assistant Secretary-General of the society Attorney Atyab Al-Shatti announced the result of the poll in the seminar organized by the society recently with the theme, “Towards a National Vision for the Elimination of Violence against Women.”
Al-Shatti disclosed that most of the respondents who were subjected to violence experienced psychological violence (45 percent), followed by physical violence (36 percent), sexual violence (16 percent) and economic violence (two percent). She added 78 percent of the respondents did not report the violence while 22 percent did otherwise.
