525 shops inspected, 846 boards removed

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 20: Director of Inspection and and Follow-up of Municipal Services at Capital Municipality Eman Al-Kandari revealed that the department, during the month of July, inspected 525 shops, removed 846 violating billboards and issued 158 citations, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

In a press release, she explained that these achievements were realized during campaigns that are part of the media campaign titled “Connect with us” launched by Kuwait Municipality.

The aim of the campaign is to remove all encroachments on state properties and violating billboards alongside roads, pursue hawkers, discover locations which are being used without permission, lift neglected vehicles, detect mistakes committed by cleaning companies, and follow up complaints of the public which were received through social media.

Al-Kandari said the inspection campaigns focused on discovering as many violations as possible for which they inspected 525 shops, issued 149 citations, and settled issues resultant from 32 violations. She added that the Health Inspection Unit of the department inspected 15 shops, issued nine citations, closed down one shop and obtained charges worth KD 370.

In addition, Public Relations Department of Kuwait Municipality called on all the people of Kuwait to contact the Municipality, in case of any complaints, either via the hotline No. 139, which operates 24 hours and 7 days a weeks, or through its accounts on social media. It affirmed that the municipality will study each and every complaint and will take necessary action.
