40 minutes of almost disaster at Mubarak Hospital

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: The power outage crisis affected areas in Hawalli Governorate exposed poor emergency services at Mubarak Al Kabeer Hospital as things nearly got out of control.

During the power outage all the generators did not work and some of them broke down. The doctors had to give some patients artificial respiration manually which saved many patients’ lives. Spare batteries(UPS) were used for artificial respirators which worked for 40 minutes which was the maximum time limit. 

The return of the current saved the patients from the state of loss of breathing, and if the outage had continued for more than this period many lives would have been in danger specially those who are in ICU and depend on artificial respirator, reports al rai. The sources stated that the Undersecretary of the Ministry Mustafa Reda presence at the hospital helped to put the work plan and activated emergency plan.
