KUWAIT CITY, Jan 17: A total of 38 violators of residency and labor laws were arrested during a campaign in Dajeej area. In a press statement issued by Ministry of Interior, the General Department for Public Relations and Security Media explained that officers from General Department for Residency Affairs carried out a campaign in Dajeej area in Farwaniya Governorate and arrested 38 expatriates most of who were marginal and domestic workers with visa No. 20, and were in violation of the residency and labor laws. The concerned authorities were notified to take legal actions against the arrested expatriates and their sponsors. The department affirmed that such campaigns will continue to arrest violators of law and take necessary legal action.Workers of shut firmsOfficers from General Department for Residency Security discovered 17 closed companies in Capital area with 102 expatriates registered under their sponsorship, reports Al- Seyassah daily.The General Department for Public Relations and Security Media of Ministry of Interior explained that officers from the Closed Companies Division of the Inspection and Investigation Department launched an inspection campaign in Capital Governorate, which led to the discovery of 17 closed companies that are not practicing their licensed activities but have 102 laborers registered under their sponsorship.
