3 deported, 71 arrested, 189 cars seized in traffic swoop

KUWAIT CITY, April 3: General Traffic Department carried out several traffic campaigns in all six governorates of Kuwait from March 26 to April 1, reports Al-Seyassah daily. During the campaigns, a total of 36,185 traffic citations were issued, 189 vehicles and 17 motorbikes were seized, 71 individuals were detained in traffic custody, three expatriates were referred for deportation for driving without licenses and five vehicles that are involved in various cases were discovered. The General Department of Public Relations and Media Security of Ministry of Interior urged road users to follow the traffic rules and regulations.

Gang of thieves held: A gang of five Syrians were arrested for stealing from vehicles parked in Hawally Governorate, says Al-Seyassah. According to security sources, when the General Department of Criminal Investigations received complaints about thefts of contents from parked vehicles in Hawally Governorate, a team was formed and investigations were carried out which led to the discovery that a gang of Syrian expatriates are involved in the thefts. Securitymen managed to arrest one of the gang members who confessed to committing the thefts with the help of four other compatriots. Securitymen arrested the rest of the suspects who also confessed to the thefts. They revealed that they sold the stolen items in the scrapyard. Necessary action was taken and the suspects were referred to the Public Prosecution. Meanwhile, Jahra securitymen arrested a wanted Kuwaiti citizen in possession of narcotic pills. He was discovered to be involved in three criminal cases.
