4,582 Kuwaitis still registered with the CSC
KUWAIT CITY, July 7: Minister of State for Economic Affairs Mariam Al-Aqeel revealed that the number of Kuwaitis hired to work in government institutions during 2019 until now is 6,013 citizens out of the 8,164 applicants registered with the Civil Service Commission, while the total number of Kuwaitis employed in the government sector over the past 21 years (since 1999 to date), was 236,085, reports Al-Rai daily.
In response to a parliamentary question, Aqeel said that the number of citizens employed last year was 21,879, while 20,615 were hired in 2017 and 18,027 in 2016.
The minister pointed out that there are 4,582 Kuwaitis who are still registered with the CSC, including 2,151 registered this year, and 2,322 registered last year, while only 99 were registered in 2017 and 10 in 2016.
On the other hand, the statistics issued by the CSC, a copy of which has been obtained by Rai, show an increase in the number of those registered in 2018 compared to 2008 – 14,296 Kuwaitis or 144.3 percent. The statistics show that most of the remaining applicants so far are registered in 2018 and 2019, account for 97.6 percent.
