21,243 Kuwaiti job-seekers in queue for ‘job openings’

KUWAIT CITY, Sept 11: The official statistics released by the Civil Service Commission (CSC) recently revealed that 21,243 Kuwaiti job seekers are in the queue for jobs as at the end of working hours on Thursday while only 11,768 vacant positions are available for certain fields of specialization, reports Al-Qabas daily.

The statistics showed that the abovementioned applicants constitute 10 percent of the total — 210,673 — since the inception of the Central System for Automated Employment more than 15 years ago.

It stated that 189,330 of the total number applicants were offered jobs in the public sector and others who could not secure government jobs are now on the list of temporary unemployment.

According to the statistics, the public sector allotted 11,185 of the employment opportunities for applicants with the following qualifications: university degree, diploma and secondary education with two years training course. The remaining 583 employment slots are for those with PhD, master’s degree and secondary school certificates.
