2 bedoun held, 1 sought in gunpoint theft of cars

KUWAIT CITY, March 18: Personnel from the Criminal Investigations Department have arrested 2 bedoun and are looking for a GCC citizen who is still at large for stealing cars, either by force after threatening to kill their owners or by using duplicate keys, reports Al-Anba daily.

A security source said the two bedoun were following intensive investigations by securitymen when owners claimed their cars were stolen from their parking places. During interrogation the two bedoun admitted to the charge and said they targeted cars which were parked on open grounds and also from motorists after threatening to harm them. They also said they used duplicate keys and guided police to 26 stolen cars. The sources said some of the victims have recognized the thieves from a police line-up.

Inmates smuggling drugs: Security authorities at the Central Prison recently foiled the attempt of two inmates, a Kuwaiti and an Egyptian to smuggle drugs into the facility, reports Al-Anba daily. A security source said the Kuwaiti after his return from the Palace of Justice, reportedly succeeded to hoodwink his guard and exchanged a pair of shoes. In the pair of shoes he was wearing 2.5 kilos of heroin was hidden under the soles. Meanwhile, the source added the Egyptian inmate who has been sentenced to capital punishment was found in possession of meth. As an example, it was reported only 11 securitymen accompanied 70 inmates for a court hearing.

Bootlegger caught: Police have arrested an Asian for bootlegging, reports Al-Shahed daily. The daily added the suspect was caught on suspicion while driving in Jleeb Al- Shuyoukh. According to security sources, the suspect tried in vain to escape when told to pull over. Police then chased and arrested him and seized from his car 202 bottles of locallymanufactured and imported alcohol. The suspect and the booze have been handed over to the General Department for Drugs and Alcohol Control. In another, unrelated incident, the Ahmadi police have arrested an unidentified Asian with 20 bottles of locally-manufactured booze. He was caught in Mahboula.
