KUWAIT CITY, Jan 14: An extensive security campaign headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs at Ministry of Interior Major General Abdul Fattah Al-Ali was recently carried out in Jahra Industrial Area which resulted in the arrest of 1,583 individuals, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

Some securitymen were distributed to the entrances and exits of the area while the others patrolled the streets of the area to check the identification and residency documents of the people.

Jahra Security Directorate explained that the campaign started at 10am and continued for an hour, resulting in the arrest of 1,583 individuals.

Five of them were wanted by law while 13 were debtors, 248 were caught without their official identification documents, 39 individuals who were reported as absconding, 137 violators of labor law and 52 violators of residency law.

The officers also confiscated seven vehicles that were wanted by law.

About 504 arrested expatriates were referred to the concerned authorities in preparation for their deportation.

Public Relations and Security Media Department declared that such security campaigns will continue throughout Jahra Governorate to arrested violators of law and wanted individuals.

It urged Kuwaiti citizens and expatriates to cooperate with securitymen for ensuring security and safety of the society.

Meanwhile, General Department for Residency Affairs affiliated to the Citizenship and Passport Sector announced the arrest of the director of a fake domestic labor office and 11 housemaids, reports Al-Seyassah daily.

According to security sources, the department had received information that the owner of the domestic labor office would present to the visitors that he has women who are willing to work as housemaids.

The visitors then pay the registration fees and recruit the housemaids. However, after these women work for a short time and take their salaries, they run away and return to practicing prostitution and deceit.

The department formed a team and raided the office to arrest the director of the office and 11 housemaids registered under the office. Public Relations and Security Media Department affirmed that those who do not follow the law and regulations of this country will be arrested and referred to the concerned authorities where they will face appropriate punishment for their crimes.
