13th WBT-PBA Kuwait Int’l Open ‘kicks off’ in Salmiya

KUWAIT CITY, Oct 30: The Kuwait Bowling Center in Salmiya will today witness the inauguration of the 13th WBT-PBA Kuwait International Open, which will take place from Oct 31 to Nov 6.

The competition is considered to be the final round of the World Bowling Tour for this year, and many elite bowlers and professionals are expected to participate.

So far, more than 100 bowlers have confirmed their participation in a bid to be among the winners of the prizes worth a total of $ 218 thousand, of which $ 50 thousand will go to the top winner.  The competition consists of three categories – men, women and amateur, with the last category being allocated only for Kuwaitis.

The championship is a Major World Bowling-PBA Tour and will be conducted in accordance with the World Bowling Statues and Playing Rules as of February 2019.

Regarding the World Bowling, it is autonomous in administering bowling and is responsible for promoting the development of bowling throughout the world, and the Olympic movement, contributing to the achievement of the goals set forth in the Olympic Charter, establishing rules for the uniform practice of bowling throughout the world, and ensuring the official bowling activities meet the requirements of the Olympic Charter.

According to the World Bowling Ranking for 2019, Americans dominate both men and female categories with Jakob Butturff having 1,240 points, and Danielle McEwan with 2,192 points.

It is worth mentioning that the American EJ Tackett, currently ranked 13, won last year’s men’s league, and his compatriot Liz Johnson, currently ranked 2, won the women’s category.
