13 held in brothel, gambling den raid

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Hawally securitymen raided a flat in Salmiya after receiving information that it is being used as a brothel and gambling den, resulting in the arrest of 10 male and three female Sri Lankans. According to a security source, the Hawally Security Command received a telephone call from an unidentified person who reported that a big number of Asians were gambling in the flat. After making the required inspections and getting legal permission, the securitymen raided the flat. They found 10 Sri Lankan men and three female compatriots playing cards and cash amounting to KD613. All those arrested were referred to the relevant security unit, along with the confiscated items.

Woman held for drugs: A young Asian woman was arrested in Maidan Hawally for selling heroin, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, when securitymen from Criminal Investigations Department received information that an Asian woman has been selling drugs and providing home delivery service to addicts, they arrested her in a trap in Maidan Hawally area. They raided her apartment and found 50 grams of heroin. When questioned, she confessed that she is working for an inmate of the Central Prison.

  Illegal call providers held: Two expatriates — an Indian and a Bangladeshi — were arrested for carrying out an illegal business of overseas calls from two apartments in Khaitan and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh areas, reports Al-Anba daily. According to security sources, when Farwaniya securitymen received several complaints from some residents of Khaitan and Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh areas about illegal international phone-calling businesses, they launched investigations to confirm the information and obtained a warrant. They raided the two flats, confiscated the communication devices and arrested the two expatriates. The suspects were referred with the confiscated items to the concerned authorities for necessary legal action.

18-yr-old girl ‘missing’: An 18-year old Syrian girl has been reported as missing by her father, reports Al-Rai daily. According to a security source, the father filed a missing person report, explaining that his daughter told her mother that she will be spending some time with a girl who lives nearby.
