120 Kuwait University students banned from participating in the ‘elections’

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 30: Assistant Dean for Students Affairs at Kuwait University Dr Theql Al-Ajmi revealed that the university committee formed to investigate the spread of tribal and sectarian advertisements on social media has decided to ban 120 students from participating in the activities of the students elections, reports Al-Qabas daily.

He said the 120 students will be prevented from candidacy in the students’ elections and voting for it. Dr Al-Ajmi clarified that investigations conducted by the committee concluded that these students were responsible for broadcasting the sectarian and tribal advertisements in violation of the relevant regulations and laws.

He stressed the keenness of Kuwait University to enhance the concepts of national unity and patriotism among the students. Dr Al-Ajmi revealed that the committee tasked to organize the students’ elections is preparing for the launch of the campaign titled “Let it brings us together” with the aim of enhancing the spirit of national unity and warning against the dangers of tribalism and sectarianism.
