120 arrested in campaign against vice; Foreign liquor with Indians

KUWAIT CITY, Aug 23: Operations sector affiliated to General Rescue Police Department arrested 120 people for various offenses in a recent campaign against vice in all six governorates. The operation led by Assistant Interior Ministry Undersecretary for Operations Major General Jamal Sayegh alongside high ranking security officials and affiliated members of security sector resulted in arrest of 120 people among them 28 people involved in criminal offenses, 37 absconders and 18 people with expired residence. It also included a person evading imprisonment term of three-and-half years, two people wanted for theft and two others involved in drug cases, in addition to 33 people without official documents.

Meanwhile, officers impounded two vehicles, registered eight citations through security observation, and issued 316 traffic violations. In a statement, General Public Relations and Security Media Department stressed the need for Kuwaitis and expatriates to cooperate with security systems to fight crime, and desist from sheltering law violators.

Foreign liquor with Indians: Policemen from Hawally Security Command arrested two Indians in Salmiya for the possession of 147 bottles of imported alcohol. While patrolling the area late at night, the officers spotted a vehicle which raised their suspicion so they signaled for the driver to pull over. The officers demanded for the identification documents of the occupants of the vehicle – two Indians.

In the process, the occupants appeared to be tensed, prompting the officers to further conduct precautionary checks which led to the discovery of the alcohol. The suspects, together with the confiscated items, were referred to the concerned authority
