1,176 arrested in raids wanted for various offenses

KUWAIT CITY, May 7: Public Security Sector, upon instructions from the acting Assistant Undersecretary for Public Security Affairs Major General Ibrahim Al-Tarrah, arrested 1176 individuals wanted for various offenses in campaigns conducted from April 29th to May 5th.

Public Relations and Security Media Department of the Interior Ministry stated officers from the sector mounted 362 security checkpoints which resulted in the arrest of 433 people wanted for civil, criminal and absconding cases, in addition to 743 residency law violators and others without identification documents.

They recovered 23 missing vehicles, dealt with 81 drug-related and 12 cases of alcohol, in addition to 4 theft cases. Also, the officers apprehended 94 marginal workers plus hawkers and resolved 419 cases of quarrel.

Meanwhile, officials issued 1846 traffic citations, impounded 172 vehicles, dealt with 4125 complaints and 1503 traffic violations. They also provided assistance to 1742 citizens and expatriates, and arrested 59 people for parking in places allotted for disabled people. The campaign is expected to continue over an indeterminate period, statement indicated
