A total of 13 cars from all over the GCC participated, with only 8 cars qualifying KUWAIT CITY, Dec 26: Zain Racing, Zain Bahrain’s in-house team for racing events, clinched first place in the 4.5 Index Category of the Bahrain Drag Racing Championship. The race, which was held at Bahrain International Circuit, is the first in a five-race season set to take place over the next three months. A total of 13 cars from all over the GCC participated, with only 8 cars qualifying for the race. The winners were determined by a knockout style competition, with competitors being pitted against Saudi driver Mohammed Bu Sayloom in the first round. The teams were up against Ahmed Alzaabi from Kuwait in the semifinal round and against Ahmed Aljahyal from Kuwait for the finals. “The Bahrain Drag Racing Championship is the biggest drag racing series in the Gulf, and Zain Racing has shown that it can hold its own against the toughest competition,” said Zain Bahrain Corporate Events Manager, Ghazi Faisal Radhi, who also manages the team. “Drag racing is a sport where everything happens in the blink of an eye. Drivers experience multiple times the force of gravity as they blitz down the strip and success comes down to the car, the fuel, and the driver’s refl exes. We are looking forward to defending our top spot in the remaining four high horsepower races this season.” Zain Racing secured second place at the Gulf Run 24 Hours Endurance Race, which was a karting event held in Kuwait earlier this month. The BIC’s world-class quarter-mile drag strip is a member of the prestigious National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Worldwide Network and attracts competitors from all over the region and beyond.
