KUWAIT CITY, May 13: The Zain Premier League resumes action today following an 80-day break caused by regional developments that halted sporting competitions since the end of February.
Round 15 gets underway with a single fixture as Jahra hosts Nasr this evening at Mubarak Al-Ayar Stadium at 5:40 pm.
The round will continue tomorrow with Shabab facing Kazma in Ahmadi, while Qadsia meets Salmiya in Hawally the following day. Matches involving Arabi against Al-Tadamon and Kuwait Club against Fahaheel have been postponed because Kuwait Club and Arabi are preparing for Monday’s Crown Prince Cup final.
Kuwait Club sits comfortably at the top of the standings with 36 points, ahead of Kazma and Arabi on 24 points. Salmiya occupies fourth place with 23 points, followed by Qadsia on 22, Fahaheel on 18, Shabab on 15, Nasr on 12, Al-Tadamon on 11, and Jahra at the bottom with seven points.
League organizers plan to complete four rounds before the end of May, while the championship and relegation stages are set to be played at the start of next season.
Tonight’s clash is crucial for both teams. Jahra is aiming to repeat its first-leg victory over Nasr and collect three valuable points to boost its hopes of avoiding relegation.
Nasr, meanwhile, is looking to maintain the strong form it showed before the suspension and strengthen their place among the league’s top six, while also seeking revenge for its earlier defeat to Jahra.
