Zain Kuwait reaffirms role as key partner of the local sports scene
Al-Duwaihees honors Al-Azraq star Hasan Safar with the tournament’s Best Player award.

Al-Mutairi, Al-Theyab, and Al-Hajri honor Bahrain’s national team with the championship title.

KUWAIT CITY, Feb 3: Zain Kuwait successfully concluded its sponsorship of the 22ndAsian Men’s Handball Championship (Road to Germany), hosted by Kuwait at the Sheikh Saad Al-Abdullah Indoor Sports Complex, with the participation of 15 national teams, as part of the qualifiers for the 2027 World Championship in Germany. Through this initiative, Zain reaffirmed its role as a key partner in supporting the local sports scene.

Zain took part in the closing ceremony, attended by former Minister of Information and Culture and former Minister of State for Youth Affairs Abdulrahman Al Mutairi, Asian Handball Federation President Bader Al-Theyab, and Kuwait Handball Federation President Shabeeb Al-Hajri. During the ceremony, Zain Kuwait’s Community Partnerships Team Leader Faisal Al-Duwaihees honored Al-Azraq goalkeeper Hasan Safar with the tournament’s Best Player award on the sidelines of the event.

Zain congratulated Kuwait’s national handball team on its standout performance throughout the tournament, after Al-Azraq delivered an impressive run that culminated in securing third place and clinching qualification to the 2027 World Championship in Germany, reflecting the strong technical capabilities and wide fan base of Kuwaiti handball. The company also congratulated Bahrain’s national team on winning the title for the first time in its history.

This comes as an extension of Zain’s approach to supporting major regional tournaments hosted by Kuwait, showcasing the country’s organizational excellence and sporting presence at both the local and continental levels, within an ongoing strategic partnership with the Kuwait Handball Federation. Zain expressed its thanks and appreciation to the Federation for its significant efforts in delivering this outstanding edition of the Asian championship.

Zain’s support for the tournament aligns with its vision to empower young athletes, spotlight national talents, and reinforce the values of fair competition within a healthy sporting environment that positively impacts society.
