Zac Efron

LOS ANGELES, Nov 9, (Agencies): To embody the iconic pro-wrestler Kevin Von Erich in The Iron Claw, Zac Efron underwent a rigorous physical transformation, bringing the legend to life on the silver screen. At the Dallas premiere of the wrestling biopic drama, held at The Texas Theatre on Wednesday, Efron shared his experience stepping into the shoes of the legendary figure.

Expressing admiration for Kevin Von Erich, Efron credited the wrestler's daily commitment to physicality, which revolutionized the sport. Efron acknowledged the challenge of mastering the physical aspect of the role and dedicated himself wholeheartedly to the task.

Walking the red carpet alongside the real-life Kevin Von Erich, Efron revealed, "He told me he was happy with it last night so I'm stoked! I cried a little bit if I'm going to be completely honest."

Apart from the physical demands, Efron also embraced the wrestler's distinctive bowl cut and iconic wrestling attire. Reflecting on the transformation process, Efron shared moments of shock and awe during the journey, emphasizing the support of an incredible hair and makeup team.

The Iron Claw delves into the story of the Von Erich family, led by patriarch and coach Fritz Von Erich (played by Holt McCallany). The narrative revolves around the wrestling careers of Fritz's sons, including Kevin Von Erich (Efron), David (Harris Dickinson), Kerry (Jeremy Allen White), and Mike (Stanley Simons). Set against the backdrop of World Class Championship Wrestling (WCCW), the film explores the triumphs and tragedies that shaped the Von Erich family's legacy.

The Von Erich brothers, a wrestling dynasty in the 1980s, experienced both success and heartbreak, with untimely fates leading to the mythologized concept of the "Von Erich curse." The Iron Claw, capturing the essence of this wrestling saga, is set to hit theaters on Dec 22.
