You Can Now Report Corruption to Nazaha Through the Sahel App

KUWAIT CITY, Jun 23: The Kuwait Anti-Corruption Authority (Nazaha) has announced the launch of the pilot phase of three new electronic services through the "Sahel" application: the service for submitting whistleblower reports of suspected corruption, the service for attaching additional documents to reports, and the report status tracking service. This comes as part of Nazaha's efforts to develop its digital services and facilitate the procedures for reporting and following up on suspected corruption through secure and confidential channels, in line with its strategic vision of promoting integrity, combating corruption, and enhancing the efficiency of digital oversight services.

Nazaha explained that the pilot phase aims to test the efficiency of the services and measure the user experience, in preparation for the official launch once the evaluation is completed and any necessary improvements are made, thereby ensuring the delivery of high-quality digital services to users.

The launch of these services coincides with World Whistleblower Day, observed annually on 23 June, in recognition of the vital role whistleblowers play in detecting corruption, contributing to the protection of public funds, strengthening trust in public institutions, and consolidating the principles of transparency and accountability.

Nazaha affirmed that the report submission service allows users to report suspected corruption electronically with full ease and confidentiality, while the additional documents attachment service enables whistleblowers to provide Nazaha with any new documents or information supporting a report at any time during its review, thereby helping to complete its elements and enabling Nazaha to perform its role efficiently.

Nazaha added that the report status tracking service reflects its commitment to enhancing transparency and keeping the whistleblower informed of the stages and procedures of the report from the moment it is received until a decision is reached, thereby strengthening trust between Nazaha and whistleblowers, improving the user experience, and embodying Nazaha's approach to developing its digital services and facilitating access to them.

Nazaha affirmed its commitment to providing comprehensive protection for whistleblowers on the personal, administrative, and legal levels, in accordance with the provisions of its law, its amendments, and its executive regulations, through channels and mechanisms that ensure the confidentiality of the data and information submitted, and in line with the provisions of the United Nations Convention against Corruption (UNCAC).

Nazaha further explained that all reports are subject to examination, study, and verification in accordance with the provisions of the law and the approved controls, in a manner that safeguards the rights of all parties. Where a reasonable legal basis exists to establish a suspicion of corruption falling within Nazaha's mandate, Nazaha undertakes the necessary legal procedures, including referring the matter to the competent judicial authorities whenever required.

Nazaha affirmed that whistleblowers represent one of the most important pillars of the national integrity framework, and that many of the reports it has received have contributed to uncovering suspicions of corruption and referring several cases to the competent judicial authorities, thereby helping to protect public funds, strengthen the effectiveness of the oversight system, and consolidate the principles of integrity and transparency.

In this context, Nazaha expressed its thanks and appreciation to all those who have come forward to report suspected corruption, driven by their national spirit and social responsibility, affirming that whistleblowers are essential partners in supporting the State's efforts to protect public funds, safeguard the nation's resources, and uphold the rule of law.

Nazaha concluded its statement by affirming that digital transformation is one of the main pillars in the development of its work, and that it will continue to develop its electronic services in a way that enhances transparency, raises the efficiency of procedures, improves the user experience, and facilitates communication with whistleblowers, thereby contributing to strengthening trust in institutions and consolidating the values of integrity and transparency in society.
