SANAA, Jul 25: The Yemeni government air force carried out airstrikes targeting Houthi missile and drone launch sites as well as weapons depots in the provinces of Marib and al-Jawf on Saturday, two Yemeni military officials said, according to Reuters.

The strikes targeted positions along the front lines with the Iran-aligned Houthi movement, the officials said.

The operation marks one of the first offensive actions by the Saudi-backed Yemeni government since renewed fighting erupted following the collapse of a four-year truce between Saudi Arabia and the Houthis.

The officials did not provide details on the extent of damage caused by the strikes or whether there were casualties.

The escalation comes as Yemen’s conflict enters a new phase, with renewed clashes threatening to further destabilize the country after years of relative calm under the ceasefire arrangements.
