ADEN, Sep 18: Yemen’s army said on Friday that 30 Houthi fighters were killed and more than 60 others wounded during 24 hours of clashes and airstrikes in Al-Waziyah district west of Taiz.
A military source quoted by the Armed Forces Media Center said Yemeni warplanes targeted Houthi vehicles, supply lines and gathering points in the area.
The source said government forces had killed 30 Houthi fighters and wounded more than 60 others during fighting on several fronts in Al-Waziyah.
The army also said its air force carried out strikes against Houthi supply routes and deployment positions in Taiz and the Red Sea port city of Mocha.
Government forces said they had also repelled Houthi attacks in Taiz and targeted positions and reinforcements belonging to the group.
The latest fighting comes as Yemeni government forces have stepped up operations against Houthi positions in several provinces in recent days, with Taiz remaining one of the key front lines.
The casualty figures were provided by the Yemeni army and could not be independently verified.
