ADEN, Oct 4: Yemen's armed forces said Sunday that 260 Houthi fighters were neutralized in 97 precision operations targeting military reinforcements on the Taiz and Tur Al-Baha fronts.

Yemeni military spokesman Col. Majed Abdullah Al-Nuzaili said the operations involved warplanes, drones, artillery, missiles and snipers. He said the attacks also resulted in the destruction or disabling of 44 military vehicles, transport vehicles and supply assets.

The announcement followed a statement issued a day earlier in which the Yemeni army said it had conducted 257 precision operations against Houthi positions, movements and military capabilities across Sanaa, Midi, Baqim and fronts in Al-Jawf, Marib, Al-Bayda and Lahj, with the main focus on Taiz.

According to preliminary battlefield estimates cited by Al-Nuzaili, those operations neutralized at least 700 Houthi members and destroyed 170 combat vehicles and other military assets. The army said the operations targeted command and control centers, troop concentrations and reinforcements, weapons and ammunition depots, and military supply routes.

There was no immediate comment from the Houthis on the Yemeni army's claims.

Yemen's conflict began after the Houthis seized Sanaa and large parts of the country in 2014. Saudi Arabia led a military coalition that intervened in 2015 in support of Yemen's internationally recognized government. A UN-brokered truce in 2022 significantly reduced fighting, although the conflict was not formally resolved.
