ADEN, Oct 16: Yemeni government forces carried out 1,292 targeted military operations against Houthi positions over the past 24 hours as part of the military offensive dubbed “Yemen Dawn,” the Saudi-led coalition said.

The coalition said the operations targeted what it described as legitimate military objectives belonging to the Houthi militia, including defensive positions, fortifications, trenches, firing positions, reserve assembly areas and transport and supply vehicles.

According to the coalition, the strikes helped prepare the ground for ground assaults, resulting in the neutralisation of more than 430 Houthi fighters and the destruction or disabling of more than 100 military vehicles, trucks and other pieces of equipment.

On the eastern front in Marib, Yemeni government forces made further advances, capturing several positions and strategic high ground, the statement said.

The coalition attributed the advances to the strikes and supporting fire that helped government forces push forward against Houthi positions.

The reported operations mark an escalation in the ongoing campaign to regain territory held by the Houthis. However, the figures on strikes, casualties and military equipment losses were provided by the Saudi-led coalition and could not be independently verified from the information available
