ADEN, Oct 25: Yemen’s armed forces said they carried out 753 strikes against Iran-backed Houthi forces over a 24-hour period, claiming that about 218 fighters and field commanders were killed or otherwise neutralized during the operations.

Brigadier General Majed Abdullah Al-Nuzaili, spokesman for the Yemeni armed forces, announced the figures in a post on X, saying the strikes were conducted as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen, an offensive targeting the Houthis’ military capabilities.

“Our armed forces are continuing their offensive operations as part of Operation Dawn of Yemen and carried out 753 precise and direct targeting operations against the military capabilities of the terrorist Houthi militia over the past 24 hours,” Al-Nuzaili said.

He said the strikes targeted field command and control centers, military headquarters, fortifications, firing positions, troop concentrations and reinforcements. The operations also focused on the movement and supply capabilities used by Houthi forces.

According to Al-Nuzaili, the offensive resulted in the neutralization of approximately 218 Houthi fighters and field commanders. He also reported that 78 vehicles, military equipment and pieces of heavy and medium weaponry were destroyed or disabled.

The spokesman said the operations were intended to disrupt the Houthis’ ability to mobilize forces, reorganize their units and move reinforcements to battlefronts, while supporting government forces’ operations across multiple fronts.

Al-Nuzaili added that the armed forces would continue their offensive, claiming that the strikes were directed at military objectives and that precautions were being taken to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The casualty figures and damage claims were announced by the Yemeni military and could not be independently verified. The announcement comes amid the continuing conflict between Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the Houthi movement, which controls Sanaa and large parts of northern and western Yemen.
