ADEN, Oct 30: Yemen’s armed forces have claimed that approximately 336 Houthi fighters and commanders were neutralized during ongoing military operations under the government’s “Dawn of Yemen” offensive, as fighting intensified across several provinces.

Military spokesman Col. Majed Abdullah al-Nuzaili said government forces had carried out 1,087 strikes in recent hours using warplanes, drones, field artillery and rocket launchers. The attacks targeted Houthi command and control centers, troop concentrations, reinforcements, firing positions, fortifications and supply routes.

In southwestern Taiz province, government forces and allied Popular Resistance fighters continued raids and counterattacks against strategically important Houthi positions. Warplanes also conducted concentrated strikes against Houthi troop concentrations, reinforcements and military installations.

In Al-Jawf, Marib and Al-Bayda provinces, as well as southern and southwestern fronts, reconnaissance operations were followed by targeted strikes aimed at preventing infiltration attempts and disrupting Houthi reinforcements, al-Nuzaili said.

According to the military spokesman, the operations resulted in approximately 336 Houthi fighters and commanders being neutralized, while 112 military vehicles, equipment, supply assets and heavy weapons were destroyed or damaged.

Al-Nuzaili said the armed forces would continue targeting Houthi military capabilities while taking precautions to protect civilians and civilian infrastructure.

The escalation comes amid renewed fighting between Yemen’s internationally recognized government and the Houthis, who have controlled the capital Sanaa since late 2014. The Saudi-led coalition intervened in 2015 in support of the internationally recognized government.

Fighting has intensified in recent weeks under the “Dawn of Yemen” offensive, with both sides reporting attacks across several provinces.

The escalation has also extended into Saudi Arabia. On Friday, the Saudi-led coalition announced that its air defenses had intercepted and destroyed a Houthi cruise missile launched toward western Saudi Arabia.

A day earlier, coalition spokesman Maj. Gen. Turki al-Maliki said two ballistic missiles launched by the Houthis toward Riyadh had been intercepted and destroyed.

The Houthis have also claimed attacks against Saudi oil facilities, airports and military installations amid the widening escalation.
