KUWAIT CITY, Oct 28: Yarmouk moved to the top of the First Division League standings after a 3-1 victory over Al-Jazeera in their sixth-round match at Al-Shabab Stadium.
The win lifted Yarmouk to 15 points, giving them the outright lead, while Al-Jazeera remained on 10 points.
In another key match, Sahel earned a hard-fought 1-0 win against Sulaibikhat, moving up to second place with 14 points, as Sulaibikhat slipped to third with 11 points.
Yarmouk team manager Abdulaziz Al-Failakawi expressed his happiness with the team’s performance and their rise to the top of the table.
He described the game as “a difficult contest, especially after the first half ended in a 1-1 draw,” noting that Yarmouk missed several scoring chances before halftime.
Al-Failakawi added that the second half was marked by high intensity and determination from both sides. Still, the tactical adjustments made by head coach Dhaher Al-Adwani proved decisive, helping Yarmouk score twice in under five minutes to seal the win.
He concluded by praising the players’ spirit and fighting attitude, urging them to maintain the same level of focus and effort in the upcoming matches — particularly the crucial clash against Sahel.
